Welcome to the Freeborne Universal Network
A Responsible Voice for Humanity and Planet Earth
Come feel the uprising swell and take a ride on the crest of a wave. This is the Freeborne Universal Network; a communications platform searching for some practical path to freedom and equality―otherwise known as the FUN Revolution @FHREEYA.com website.
We’re not trying to be tacky but having fun, so to speak, is a central theme of the FUN Revolution; a quest for personal freedom and social equality by embracing the liberties of a fair yet inspiring society nurturing everyone to fulfill their potential and benefit from a decent standard of living. But how do we get there? How about walking down the middle of the road using common sense to bring us peace and contentment, rather than shouting biased rants and selfish agendas from the ditch on either extreme side of the road? How about a new revolution for things that are real and things that really matter?
True freedom usually has two aspects: personal inner peace without aggravation or anxiety, combined with a respectful democratic society fostering justice and liberty. But it can be a struggle just to survive in today’s socio-economic landscape with the immediacy of electronic media and planetary communications, let alone managing to live a happy and healthy life. It is the new millennium challenge to find our FUN place in life and strive for reasonable comfort and satisfaction; all without abandoning the foundations we have built for a functioning society, or getting discouraged and depressed about our future.
Wilderness Reflection
So what do we want out of life? Do we not want to be happy and have fun? Isn’t that really what we all want? Do we want to work solely for material possessions, or do we want to actually feel good about ourselves (and hopefully others too)? Do we want to isolate ourselves, or contribute to the collective goodwill and reward our hard work with creature comforts while pursuing things that really matter to us?
There are many amazing inventions that have brought us a remarkable and fortunate standard of living, yet not everyone on our planet benefits from these qualities of life and their prospects for the future can look desperate at times. Some altruistic citizens with energy and determination want to change this by battling against atrocities on different levels and even advocating practices that help the planet’s environment survive as well. Obviously these are honourable objectives positively contributing to humanity and Planet Earth, but they can only be accomplished through our collective efforts which probably require a healthy and happy attitude of enough people to make a difference; people who want things that matter so we can enjoy life and have some fun along the way.
The FUN Revolution believes it’s time for some sound prudent judgement to confront the sinister dance of indulgence that is stepping all over the good people―the result of collateral damage from corruption and exploitation, which is oppressing and supressing the spirit of humankind. There is a prevalent fever pitch of raging consumerism obsessing otherwise reasonable people, promoted by definitions of “making it” along with revolutionary marketing techniques, resulting in superficial self-esteem manufactured by misguided peer pressure, as well as the decadence of ill-advised and mostly unnecessary material possessions masking the void of unfulfilled spiritual needs. And then there is this subsequent degradation of the planet’s natural resources threatening the balance of nature known as Earth.
Sunset Moorings in the Bay
But the fine art of enjoying and celebrating life acknowledges that many people are really doing quite well. A balanced outlook can bring us happiness finding solace in simple pleasures, including an appreciate of nature’s miracles and the true magnificence of our existence. And perhaps some of these happy people who are enthralled and inspired will lead us to new and fascinating innovations addressing the issues we face―or just apply common sense to political and social actions. This spirit and drive, although not for everyone, can potentially impart justice by understanding different attitudes and gaining the perspective to offer solutions that find the elusive balance of harmony, and ultimately freedom from corruption and exploitation.
However, everyone has to do their part. We all have to contribute in some way. If people are lazy and look for a free ride, then things will start to fail without doubt―in one way or another. Yet, that’s not to say we all have to lead the charge with exceptional energy. It’s okay just to survive, isn’t it? Survival is a commendable contribution to society, you would think. The FUN Revolution is intended as a recipe for individual survival and a ground swell of practical social applications, as long as the spin doctors can make it a pop culture kind of thing.
There are many wonderful gifts on our planet, natural and human made; hopefully we will keep our senses, overcome greed and add to these treasures as we continue to make our world a better place. Positive steps taken by humanity despite certain unethical actions throughout our history offer some optimism and hope for a better future―building on what we have accomplished with both the good and the bad, instead of uncompromisingly throwing it all away for radical reconstruction regardless of which extreme side of the road it may originate. But maybe most importantly we should probably save ourselves by finding ways to survive, have fun and be happy.
The following political and cultural aspirations are offered as a beginning for the FUN Revolution on a journey toward freedom, equality and perhaps some legitimate balance of harmony.
Public-private joint ventures in renewable resources and technology, creating profit and jobs and generating public revenue.
Responsible management of natural resources through environmental stewardship.
Education for all income levels and revitalized universal health care.
Fiscal prudence with public funds and fair reward for investments, promoting economic equality and social liberty.
Eliminating corruption with accountability of public and commercial institutions.
This brings us back to the FUN middle of the road at FHREEYA.com, where capitalism works in concert with social values to invest in enterprises enriching our standard of living, and technology is developed in parallel with nature instead of exploiting resources. The Freeborne mantra advocates a balanced approach to life and society, wrapped in a blanket of journalism, commentary and entertainment.

Struggle for Survival
The wildfires are currently raging in northern Canada, comparatively speaking. Do not make any mistake about it, a wildfire can be a frightful and life threatening experience for many people, but it’s not all bad news. The fire disaster in Hawaii was exceptionally horrific this year to be sure, but that raging inferno was not completely due to natural causes, so it seems. The frequency and intensity of forest fires in Northwest Territories and British Columbia are currently looming with potential devastation to property or life; taxing people to the limit creating stress and shock, let alone scrambling with evacuation logistics . . . This is quite alarming to many people, yet as long as there is limited loss of life and damage to property, there is good news on the horizon . . .

Let your imagination take you for a thrilling ride on the crest of an interstellar wave . . . check out the author's visual rendition of this enthralling spiritual fantasy . . .
"Fuel cell thrusters, with their technology already highly advanced, were stacked at the symmetrical centre of a spacecraft―the engine core―and once a critical speed was attained with forward thrust, a spherical array of intensely fused plasma particles was released through a circular bank of emitters located in the middle deck of the vessel; a procedure known as corridor dispersal . . .
"The spherical array, led by a forward stream flowing out the bow of the ship, is shaped by the port, starboard and stern emitters with manipulated particle acceleration in the same manner as the graviton pulse; encompassing the entire vessel in a propelled corridor of plasma, with particle array continuity maintained by electromagnetic deflectors inside the corridor . . .
"The plasma dispersal array attracts positrons found in dark energy gamma-rays which interact with electrons in the process of antimatter annihilation to create ionized forward propulsion, while the E.M. deflectors protect the ship’s structural integrity and eliminate gravitational force at high speeds for passengers inside; essentially by floating the spacecraft in the middle of the plasma corridor, like an aerated bubble pulse streaming across the surface of water . . .
"The new technology, known as corridor propulsion, was installed on large-scale space ships beginning in the last decade of the thirty-eighth century . . . "

The Excitement and Mystique of the Dangerous River
________________________
The rushing water of this bold river beckoned our canoes yet again about halfway through our two weeks on the water. It seems every whitewater runner is faced with a critical challenge, and this was our moment. The river reeled its dangerous head in our direction on this particular morning. Two small islands split the fierce current at the rapids downstream from Hell’s Gate where Wrigley Creek spews into the river. The force of the current collides on the far side of the islands and forms wicked whirlpools, known to suck down vessels and bodies.

This warrior is a solidly built young looking man who has actually lived hundreds of thousands of years; virtually immortal it seems because of many trips that have taken him several billions of annual continua through distant dimensional corridors, due to the demand on his acute skills. He is very tall with dark, straggled hair and almost always showing the shadow growth of an early beard. He is firm and muscular, especially considering his age, and carries a prehistoric look to go with the many years he has transpired. He was only wearing moose skin pants at that space and time.
The morning of fishing was a relaxing and welcome break for Bruno. He just returned from Planet Dlailia where he served as a bark shredder; the warriors who cover the flanks on tree raids. It is one of the most challenging and demanding of all tree raid positions. Bruno battled through rain, sleet, brutal cold and nasty gravity fields. He faced the possibility of losing his core on several occasions. And he knew the agony associated with being coreless. Bruno could not imagine life without a core.
Chapter 25: Muh
The aesthetic heaven was finally complete. The spiritual fibre in the one heaven lived in the gods, the trees, the land and the water. The USF lived in the vapour demons, the wizards and we wind warriors: except for one last remaining USF which Gorb of the aspens saved and kept hidden in the forested canyon. Gorb did this, insightfully, without the knowledge of the other gods.
They, the gods, were soon content to live within themselves. It seemed they were satisfied and happy with their new aesthetic heaven; it seemed the new heaven would endure a peaceful life embraced by the tranquility of the trees.
It seemed.

Get Outside and Go Camping
We hit the trail in moderate sunshine with a few clouds drifting across the sky, but as luck would dictate on this ritual of mine to welcome spring with some backcountry camping, the clouds soon accumulated and socked us in for the weekend. It wasn’t an ambitious undertaking; just a two-night backpacking trip into the alluring boreal bush of Canada’s Quetico Provincial Park in northwestern Ontario, yet it always recharged my nature loving batteries and stoked me up for another season of camping.

Zachary Steele was inspired by his most recent vampire vision on the Yuba River in California, during the late twentieth century of a non-interstellar era planet, so to speak. It was the summer of 1989 in the northern hemisphere of Planet Earth and Zachary was attempting to finish his family tree.
He came to realize the significance of this nemesis figure in his lifelong battle with morality―which was integral to his spiritual journey―and he may have found a clue through his genealogy search indicating why his vision manifested into a vampire. However, he was still uncertain of the reason for his visionary interstellar flight since childhood, the true meaning of the owls in his encounters with nature, and the current location of his parents, let alone the exact details of his ancestry . . .
“I probably have more questions, but I’m a little confused right now.”
“That’s quite normal. Remember Zachary, you have to believe.”
Beatrice Bagwa’s last few words faded into a fury of spark and glitter spinning around her body in a mosaic of colour; lifting into the air as the apparition bolted into the sky and over the horizon with a tail of blue haze.
The family tree researcher sat down and firmly grasped his bottle of whiskey. He slunk beside the fire as if he was entwined in a drugged stupor. He looked back to where the old lady was standing. He needed more fire. Zachary grabbed another two logs and set them on the coals. They quickly flamed. The flickering heat danced a soothing ballad and eventually put him to sleep.
Zachary left the Churchill River a very confused man.
Chapter 19: Venture North
* * *
They watched in amazement as the small gift of nature revealed its subtle eminence. A swelling wave of water curled downriver and spread from bank to bank, plunging down the basin and rising up the slope of the shoreline as it flowed: a wall of water, moving, rising and travelling along the miraculous path of a living river. It took flight in Zachary’s brewing imagination, and he saw the vampires rising in his mind. He dropped to his knees and trembled, but it was too late: the river had taken him back to his battle . . .
Thoughts of his adolescent and young adult years entered his mind. He remembered the visions of fluttering owls escorting him along waterways and hiking trails during summer wilderness trips, and being profoundly awakened by the soft song of an owl one misty morning while camping alone. But then he heard the city traffic and the giant air conditioner from the apartment building across the street; his bedroom tucked in that monstrosity of a three-storey haunted house ― where he walked the hallways at night and the vampires would come rising from the cracks in the dark, oiled hardwood floors . . .
It was exhilarating as he soared through the cosmos, but true to the warnings of his dear old auntie who told him never to release his lifeline―the gleaming power source that emanated from his navel like an umbilical cord―the vampire would always turn against him somewhere in the distant galaxies; tempting his resolve by offering him this immortal freedom of flight in exchange for a meal of his soul, and testing his courage over and over by threatening his destruction.
“I will devour you. You will scream in pain as I rip your flesh apart,” the vampire would snarl.
“No, I am better than you. You cannot defeat me,” Zachary would collect himself in defiance.

Two Camps
and the Common Ground
A long time ago, hundreds of years ago in fact, there was a river valley without pavement, roads, concrete bridges, buildings and the sort, in what is now Canada. There in the river valley amongst trees, rocks and sandy shores came a group of mainly men with some women. They were called coureurs des bois, known as wood-runners or bush-lopers to the Europeans who were already living on the new continent in the 16th and 17th Centuries. The coureurs came across the ocean in boats and were greeted by indigenous people who had existed in the valley for thousands of years.
Stepping Out the Door
The great outdoors; one of my favourite subjects. So, what’s so great about the outdoors? Why would someone devote an entire blog to nothing other than dirt, grass, rocks, a few trees and maybe some water here and there?
Nature's Force
The elements of nature have once again reared their might and force to show us mere mortals who is boss. Although industrial practices may be making weather more severe than Earth’s very recent climatic history, we humans are constantly reminded that some forces of nature can never be controlled. Only days prior to publication of this commentary, thunderstorm systems moving through river basin valleys manifested into tornadoes that touched down in Canada’s capital city Ottawa, as well as an area near Montreal, Quebec.
Rural Voidness

I was sitting in my shed listening to the rainfall splatting on the metal roof. I didn’t have a tarp set up at the time. I love the sound of raindrops on a tarp or tent, and I have many stories to tell about tarps I have known, but on this occasion the metal roof of my shed would have to do . . .

Documents scattered about; his face lay on the desk. The small reading light seemed to burn a hole in the back of his head, revealing a cluttered collection of minute details and dastardly spirits fleeting through his mind. He was working at the same desk for sixteen hours.
Flayda Findstad quietly inserted his key into the library door, but before he could turn the knob the door opened on its own as if being seduced by some roused presence. The library reeked of the rancid spirits which fluttered in the mind of the man at the desk; he was obviously working too hard . . .
Flayda gazed inside the library and saw his friend. He was asleep; still sitting at his desk. Flayda walked across the room and looked down at his friend’s face; pensively etched with helpless fear.
