Nature Trail Medley
Big cedar
fallen down
across the trail
but not yet
on the ground
Saved by smaller
stems and limbs
botanical sacrifice
by fellow species
A cluttered mess
all around
trees abound
blowdown patchwork
slicing crosshatch
suspended
above the forest bed
A quagmire
of wind torn damage
from a springtime
thunderstorm
destructive wake
of timber tapestry
beside the lake
The trail is a challenge
hopping over
deadfall trunks
skipping through
gnarly branches
and jumping
muskeg puddles
Invigorating
survival skills
navigating down the path
yet still an inspiring hike
in the woods
enthralled by nature
